Leaders United to Change the World
Jeune Mopao International is a global movement of people working together to improve the lives of people of African descent.
Our mission is to build thriving communities on the African continent and in the Diaspora.
We focus on accomplishing this goal through education, professional development, community engagement, and youth empowerment.
Our Roots
Christian Kanyankogote, our founder, launched the Jeune Mopao movement as a grassroots initiative in 2020. The movement united workers from all walks of life and advocates for social justice. This group provided informal mentorship to people from African communities in Canada, and supported them in securing job opportunities in industries where their communities had historically been underrepresented.
Jeune Mopao also supported teachers and administrators in addressing inequities in the educational outcomes for racialized groups in Canada. We connected with peers; women in male dominated fields like Finance, Engineering, and Information Technology, women who had shattered glass ceilings, while remaining forever aware of the scars that they incurred along the way.
African women are the most resilient women we know.
The term “Mopao” (pronounced Mo-pão) comes from Lingala, the lingua franca of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Translated in English, Mopao means “Leader”.
In 2024, Jeune Mopao International was incorporated as a non-profit organization based in Canada.
We have been building our global impact ever since.
